Our Emergency Call-Out Process
  1. Diagnose the Issue: We start by talking through the problem with you on the phone. We often provide simple steps you can try to potentially resolve the issue yourself, free of charge.
  2. Dispatch an Engineer: If an engineer is still needed, we guarantee one will be at your property within 2 hours.
  3. Find the Fault: Our expert will quickly diagnose the problem. We have a 100% success rate of identifying the fault within the first hour.
  4. Quote & Fix: We then provide a clear quote for the repair. If parts are available, we will fix the problem immediately on the same day.
  5. Ensure Safety & Return: If we need a part when suppliers are closed, we will make the fault safe so you have power for the night and return first thing the next morning to complete the repair.
Our Pricing Structure
Since every electrical fault is unique, we charge an hourly rate for our emergency services.
  • Call-Out Fee: This covers the first hour of work. The exact fee depends on the time of day you call, as rates are higher for overnight service (e.g., a 3 AM call) compared to daytime hours.
  • After the First Hour: Any additional time needed to complete the repair is billed at the same hourly rate.

Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR):
  • What it is: A detailed inspection and report on the safety of the fixed wiring in a building (sockets, switches, fuse board).
  • Think of it as: A MOT for your property's electrical system.
  • Who needs it: Landlords are legally required to have one. It's highly recommended for all homeowners.
  • When it's done:
    • Rental Properties: At least every 5 years, or at every change of tenancy.
    • Homeowners: At least every 10 years, or when buying a house.
    • Businesses: Typically every 5 years, or as specified by your insurance.

Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC):
  • What it is: A certificate that proves any new electrical work (like a new circuit, full rewire, or adding sockets) has been done safely and meets UK standards.
  • Think of it as: The warranty and safety certificate for a new electrical installation.
  • Who needs it: Anyone who has had new electrical work carried out.
  • When it's done: Immediately upon completion of the new electrical installation. The electrician must provide it before you settle the final invoice.

PAT Testing:
  • What it is: A safety check for portable items that you plug in, like kettles, computers, power tools, and extension leads.
  • Think of it as: A safety sticker for your electrical gadgets and equipment.
  • Who needs it: Employers, landlords, and businesses have a legal duty to ensure their electrical equipment is safe.
  • When it's done:
    • Offices & Shops: Typically every 12-24 months.
    • Construction Sites & Workshops: Every 3-6 months due to harsher conditions.
    • Rental Properties: Before a new tenancy begins, and then periodically every 1-2 years.
    • Public Use Appliances (e.g., in a hotel or hostel): Should be checked more frequently, often every 6-12 months.

Fire Alarm Certificate:
  • What it is: A certificate that confirms a new or significantly upgraded fire alarm system has been installed correctly.
  • Think of it as: The initial building compliance certificate for your fire alarm.
  • When it's done: Once, upon the completion of a new installation or a major upgrade.
  • Ongoing Tests (To keep it valid):
    • Weekly: A quick test using a different alarm trigger each time.
    • Every 6 months: A full service by a professional. You get a report, not a new certificate.

Emergency Lighting Certificate:
  • What it is: A certificate that proves a new emergency lighting system (the lights that come on during a power cut) is installed correctly.
  • Think of it as: The initial building compliance certificate for your emergency lights.
  • When it's done: Once, upon the completion of a new installation or a major upgrade.
  • Ongoing Tests (To keep it valid):
    • Monthly: A quick check to ensure all lights come on.
    • Annually: A full test where lights must stay on for their full duration (e.g., 3 hours). You should receive a new Certificate of Testing after this annual check.
